Intensive block therapy
New research into neuroplasticity is showing resounding support for intensive based models of therapy. If you imagine how many times/day a newborn baby must practise lifting her head before she masters head control, you can understand the concept of intensive therapy for the development of new motor skills.
It’s not uncommon for a child to move from no head control to sitting, or sitting to crawling, or from standing to taking steps following an intensive block.
Our Intensive programs use a combination of therapies customised to the goals of your child. And unlike many other clinics, the duration and frequency can also be tailored depending on your child’s tolerances and needs. Usually however an intensive block will be 2-4 hours, 3-5 times per week for 2-3 weeks.
Following the intensive you will be provided with a home-based program to continue on with the new skills. You will also have the option of booking maintenance session with our therapists in the clinic.
